Indy Hackers
Holiday Social 2018
Celebrate the year with your fellow hackers over food and drink!
Good news, everyone! The eighth annual Indy Hackers Holiday Social is happening Saturday, December 1st, at Launch Fishers, and you're invited! Please join us, starting at 7pm, for a night full of food, drink, and friends both old and new.
Everyone is welcome - junior devs, senior devs, non-devs who want to know more about programming, Pythonistas, Javanese, COBOLians, Scalanites, PHPers, Rubyists, .NET nuts, Perlsians. We just want to get the tech community in Indianapolis together to play some games and have some fun. As always, the Holiday Social is completely free.

Inaugural Indy Hackers Awards ("The Hackies")
This year, Indy Hackers will be recognizing individuals in the community who are great promotors of inclusion, empowerment and diversity. We'll be giving out the following awards to recognize members of the Indiana tech community: “Community Member”, “Mentor”, “Teacher & Trainer”, “Level Up” and “Rising Star”. Nominate an outstanding person here! We'll keep nominations open through November 26th, and notify the winners soon after.
How is this being put together? / How can you help?
Back in 2011, a couple of us simply wanted to get together with a few of our friends, who almost all happened to be programmers. We loved the company of fellow hackers, so we decided to invite more—and were sure to include non-programmers-but-definitely-indy-hackers folks, as well.
The community of software professionals in this city is amazing, and once we started to get together, people got more and more excited about how to make it better the next year.
This year we have a group of 8 volunteers that have led the charge from an organizational and momentum perspective. But, again, the local community is incredible, and the amount of help and support we have recieved has been breath-taking.
However, in order to make sure this Holiday Social is as successful as Holiday Socials past, we need help from local Indianapolis businesses with an interest in supporting the local development community.I'm a "home for hackers"...
-
Hiring a Developer?
The single best way to hire a developer is by being connected to the community. If we know you, and how awesome your mission is, how incredible you work environment is, and how much love you have for the community at large, I guarantee we will think of you first when we're looking for our next adventure.
-
Increase Awareness of your Company?
Sometimes it isn't about recruiting. Sometimes you're just proud of what you are doing, and want others in the tech world to be more aware of it. This is a great opportunity to show us what you have cooking!
-
Just want to support Local Developer Community?
We all know what the world thinks of "West Coast Engineers" and "East Coast Coders"...well, we are incredibly proud of what we are doing right here in the mighty MidWest. If you want to help us showcase that, supporting events like this goes a long way toward that goal.
For more information on how to become a sponsor, check out the Sponsorship PDF and/or just e-mail us! Absolutely all sponsor money goes toward the event.

Want to do more with IndyHackers?
This is all acomplished because a few folks really love the local community, and wanted a way to bring it together. Do you have ideas about how we can make this better? Come chat with us on the Indy Hackers Slack channel
-
Want to start a new meetup?
This is the perfect time to start up a group of hackers that may be feeling alone. If you have an idea for a new meetup, but don't know how to get it started, come talk with us! We've been running local meetups for years, and can help point you in the right direction, and maybe even jump start membership by announcing it at this year's holiday social.
